Literacy through Music
An innovative initiative designed to integrate the therapeutic benefits of music with the accessible and community-focused environment of a library. This program aims to enhance the well-being of diverse library patrons—
ranging from children to adults—by providing music therapy sessions that promote emotional healing, cognitive growth, and social connection. By working together with the library’s resources and inclusive space, the program
offers a unique opportunity for individuals to engage with music in a supportive and enriching setting.
Groups provided include:
Sprouting Melodies, a space for parents to learn songs and interactive experiences that they can recreate at home.
Books & Beats, a space for children to enjoy storytime with the foundation of music.
Teen Songrwriting, a youth after school program that provides a space for teens to be creative and make their own music with the support of a Music Therapist.
