MISSION & HISTORY

City Music Columbus programming features music therapy and music education programs for children who may not have access to them otherwise.  We are committed to identifying and helping children who may not have access to music education and music therapy services.

Many studies document that participation in music performance, either solo or in groups, can bridge development gaps for children, and can help them to overcome social and behavioral challenges.

We fund music therapy and music education programs which take place during the summer and after school programs located at Boys & Girls Club of Central Ohio, YMCA Headstart, Ohio Hispanic Coalition, Columbus Metropolitan Library, and Godman Guild.

Our partner, Central Ohio Music Therapy, provides music therapists and music educators who develop curricula and who are trained to work with a wide range of children and adolescents.

Our unique guitar program provides guitars and training on guitars, as well as the space for practice between lessons. Children who demonstrate skill, aptitude and responsibility in the care of their loaned guitar will be eligible to receive their own guitar.

We will respect and continue the mission of our founder Steve Rosenberg to provide dynamic concert experiences by top caliber artists, as we host musical fundraising events to further our mission.
