Yumbambé Latin Jazz

Yumbambé is Latin jazz, bringing together the lush sound of jazz harmony with the vibrant rhythms of Afro-Cuban drumming. Vocals along with an eclectic mix of authentic percussion instruments make Yumbambé a unique and exciting group. The band includes some of Columbus’ most prominent Jazz musicians, who have performed with many jazz and Latin greats.
This special show, led by well-known Columbus Latin Music bandleader, Eric Paton, will  feature a 6-piece group perfect for the cozy setting of the Wild Goose Creative.

UCelli is a quartet of virtuoso cellists that has appeared to enthusiastic sold-out audiences around Columbus including performances for City Music at Via Vecchia, TV 10, Medicine and the Arts, and full recitals at Ohio Wesleyan University and Bexley Public Library. UCelli members Pei-An Chao, Mary Davis, Cora Kuyvenhoven, and Wendy Morton are also members of the Columbus Symphony and ProMusica Chamber Orchestras. Each of these four artists is a cello soloist and chamber musician in her own right, bringing a strong musical philosophy and relationship to cello repertoire and pedagogy. The individual artistry and the combined chemistry of these four cellists results in an exciting, unique, and vibrant concert experience.
This special show, led by ProMusica Chamber Orchestra assistant principal cellist, Cora Kuyvenhoven, will bring the beauty, romance and virtuosity of the cello to the cozy setting of the Wild Goose Creative.

Helen Welch is a critically-acclaimed vocalist whose live stage performances explore a diverse range of musical compositions, starting with the 1930s up through present-day. Whether she’s singing Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Sarah Vaughan, or Elton John, Sting and Randy Newman, Helen’s sophisticated vocals and humor leave audiences breezily enchanted.

A native of England, Helen is well-known throughout the United Kingdom for her musical theatre roles and 1-woman shows. Upon moving to the U.S. in 2003, she began appearing in venues throughout the Northeast. Her unique talents for choosing songs that stand the test of time and making them her own, and her ability to intimately engage her audience, quickly earned her a large and devoted following.

Helen is equally at home performing in intimate spaces for small groups as in outdoor amphitheatres in front of thousands. She appears in the region’s most celebrated entertainment establishments including Severance Hall, Cleveland's Playhouse Square Center, Akron Civic Theatre, Blossom Music Center, the Chautauqua Institute and many more. She frequently guest-stars or headlines with world-class musical organizations such as The Cleveland Orchestra, The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Pops Orchestra and The Akron Symphony to name just a few.

This special show will feature "The NEW American Songbook" - perfect for the elegant setting of the Athletic Club of Columbus.

Bobby has performed extensively in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Japan. Touring events include major jazz festivals, concert halls, and numerous night clubs with Ray Charles, Jeff Tyzik, Chris Howes and Sarah Morrow. In his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, Bobby has been a feature with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony, and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, sharing the stage with Dionne Warwick, Doc Severinsen, Arturo Sandoval, Faye Robinson and many others. He has also appeared in a variety of performances opening for Spyro Gyra, Smokey Robinson, Stanley Clark and George Duke, as well as accompanying other artists like David Fathead Newman, Bobby Watson, Greg Osby and Billy Hart. Bobby has completed three recordings: Interpretations, Setting the Standards, and Floyds Finest Gift.

           Cuban Classics: The Alonso Brothers.

 

Virtuoso pianists and Cuban brothers Orlay Alonso and Orlando Alonso share the stage in an immersive experience that places the audience at the center of the “Golden Era” of Cuban music and entertainment, from the 1940s and 1950s; followed by a VIP Salsa

Dance Party at the Southern Hotel Ballroom, that will feature cocktails, dancing, dance showcase performance, and Columbus’ own Yumbambe; bringing together the lush sound of jazz harmony with the vibrant rhythms of Afro-Cuban drumming.
